I had lived without TV for a quite a long time...several years, in fact. Oh, I had *a* television, I just didn't have TV. Sounds weird, I know. I realized that cable was too expensive for me when I lived on my own. Since I was at college, I really didn't care.
I came back into the pop culture for a while when I moved back with the parents, but I was separated from it again when I moved out. Not only did I not have cable, I could not receive local stations. Even the public broadcasting station which everyone seems to get was not available to me. I had a subscription to Netflix and contented myself with an endless stream of movies.
Meanwhile, I had been hearing about this new show called Heroes. It sounded like something I'd enjoy. I gave in and finally bought an antenna. Suddenly the holy trinity of NBC, ABC, and CBS were shining into my living room. To get set for Season 2, I ordered Season 1 from Netflix. I had a marathon viewing session over the course of a week. I had a little bit of a scare when the seventh disc arrived badly scratched and nearly broke my DVD player. Luckily the local Hollywood came through with a copy.
I was saddened by the truncated season, but the show delivered many laughs. It is one of the few shows that consistently causes me to talk back to screen. (The short season also caused me to watch Dancing With The Stars...well, that and the fact that Penn Jillette was a contestant. I didn't realize my addiction until I felt torn between watching Heroes and DWTS. Reason won out.)
Anyway, as promised, here are some of my thoughts on the recent episodes of Heroes.
